Roland Dyens chose the titles of his works when a composition was nearly finished, "the icing on the cake", as he liked to say. Air ascendant Terre gives a nod to the elements of Yannick Le Goff and Roland Dyens's astrological signs: both are Libra, an air sign, with as an ascendant for Roland, the earth sign Virgo.
Oil on canvas by Robert Dyens, Fishing boats in Erquy, 1992. Bringing Roland Dyens together with his father, the painter Robert Dyens, has obvious emotional value for us.The love of colours, landscapes and the reciprocal admiration that united them, emanates from each of their respectives works.
Air fills the sails of two boats steering in the same direction, hand in hand, like two friends approaching the realm of eternity.

On September 2, 1995, we premiered Air ascendant Terre at the Martigny Theatre.
To have this magnicent work dedicated to me, was a responsibility as great as the gift that it represented.
The rehearsals took place in an atmosphere of obviously extreme concentration, but with all of the good humour that was typical of Roland. We were overcome with enthusiasm at the concert. Whether you are a autist or a guitarist, I hope that when performing it, you will, like me, all be able to say, "Thank you Roland!".
