These 5 pieces for saxophone duet should be played like dance hall music, meaning that constant attention should be given to the swing.
They were initially written for a high instrument, soprano or alto, and a rather low instrument, tenor or baritone. They can however be adapted to more unusual instrumentation, and can even undergo certain octave transpositions.
It has been an honour to have, on numerous occasions, played them with or heard them played by or by Daniel Humair, Pat Metheny, Yvette Horner, Bernard Lubat, Michel Portal and Marc Ducret.
Christophe Monniot, musician saxophonist, received a unanimous 1st prize in jazz and improvised music from the Paris Conservatory. He also was awarded the 1st soloist prize at the International Jazz Competition at La Défense
