It was by making a viola/organ reduction of Paul Hindemith’s magnificent Trauermusik, which cites the chorale “Vor deinen Thron tret’ ich hiermit” by J. S. Bach that Karsten Dobers and Loïc Mallié hit upon the idea of using this work as a springboard, so to speak, to juxtaposing chorales elaborated upon by Bach and original composed works based on those chorales: two preexisting works (P. Hindemith and B.A. Zimmermann) and three new creations (E. Canat de Chizy, G. Cuesta, L. Mallié).
