This work was inspired by the dramatic events that flooded the leading city of Louisiana. The character of this Ode swings back and forth from a blues spirit to baroque articulations.
This is a triptych for recorder playing successively alto, tenor and bass flutes accompanied by a keyboard. Although the preference is for a harpsichord, one may choose to invite a piano or an accordion for the accompaniment. In the event that one may use the piano or accordion the nuances must follow those of the recorder especially in the low registers where the dynamic level must be minimal.
