Founded by the siren Parthenope, which explains the Neapolitan love of music, Naples is now a lively metropolis at the crossroads of eastern and western cultures. Naple, from Neapolis in Greek meaning modern city, was colonised throughout its history successively by the Greeks, the Spanish and the French. Our identity is therefore the fruit of all of these civilisations combined. Music occupies a very important part of our daily lives.
