Several years ago I began writing a cycle of pieces for homogeneous duets.
These works, conceived for two identical instruments or voices, appear as "stereophonic" compositions. The two parts are equal and without hierarchy and they use the same material, even exchanging motifs.
"Vif-argent" is the former name for mercury and I had its dual characteristics - solid and fluid or metallic and mobile - in mind when I composed this score. Not to mention that the Greek god Hermes (Mercury in Roman) is the inventor of the lyre!
