Note

Trio Basso for bass clarinet, cello and double bass, is essentially based on only one thing: the exploration of the raw energy of timbre and its explosiveness. In this piece, there is no poetic reference for dramaturgical purposes. Only the instruments and what they can produce matter, hence the choice of a title only refers to this trio of "lows". Detached from any harmonic or melodic system, the gestures, which are juxtaposed, tiled or superimposed to form the very material of this piece, require the performers to make a total physical commitment. It is only through this commitment that the timbre can be liberated and the unheard approached... perhaps even achieved!
