Mélodictionnaire, concerto for piano and instrumental septet, featuring the piano part in particular, as the work's solo instrument, with sonic richness that is almost always expressed through the idea of "melody", even in the successive chordal passages, the rhythmical sections or the exalted glissandi.
This idea of melisma, of chant, of phrase - of melody, exists for each instrument in the ensemble, sculpting the appearance and interior character of the entire composition.
