Bruno MANTOVANI
Born in 1974
Biography
Bruno Mantovani was born on 8 October 1974 at Châtillon-sous-Bagneux, and in 1996 was enrolled in the Paris Conservatory where he went on to win the first prizes in analysis, aesthetics, orchestration and composition. Here he completed his training (with Guy Reibel) while at the same time studying for a Master's degree in musicology at the University of Rouen, as well as taking in a composition course at Royaumont Abbey in 1995 and a computer music course at Ircam (1998-99). In 1997 he was awarded the composition scholarship at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1997, a grant from the Fondation Nadia et Lili Boulanger in 1999, the Sacem Hervé Dugardin prize in 2000. From August to December 1999 he was in residence at the Artists' House at the Herrenhaus Edenkoben, at the invitation of Peter Eötvös, then in 2001 at the Octobre en Normandie festival, followed by Bologna in 2002 as part of the AFAA (Association Française d'Action Artistique) "Extra-Mural Villa Medici" festival, the Festival des Arcs that same year, the French Institute in Florence (2003), and the Académie de France à Rome (2004-05). Today, he works with the most prestigious musicians (B. Hendricks, P. Meyer, E. Pahud, V. David, J. Gottlieb, P. Eötvös, M. Schreier, J. Nott, L. Cuniot, TM+, Ensemble Inter-Contemporain).
Suonare, work for piano, have been created at Festival Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse, on 8th september 2006 by Nicholas Angelich.
Bruno Mantovani had the place of honour at the Festival Musica 2006 at Strasbourg with the world premieres of his works, Cantate n°1, Quelques effervescences and his opera L'Autre côté.
He is the headmaster of the Paris Conservatory since September 2010.
