PUTZ Marco

Marco Pütz was born in 1958 at Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg. He studied music (saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, instrumentation and conducting) in his home-town before continuing his studies in Brussels and Liège, graduating with distinctions in saxophone and chamber music and premiers prix in harmony, counterpoint and conducting.
Since 1986, he has taught saxophone at the Luxembourg Conservatoire. He is a foundermember of the Luxembourg Saxophone Quartet (1982-2006) and from 1981 to 2006, had regularly played saxophone with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since 1987, Marco Pütz has composed more than 55 different works, mostly for wind ensembles and orchestras, but also for chamber orchestra and string quartet, as well as a musical theatre piece for children. In 1987, he won second prize in the "2do Concorso Internationale Augusto Cagnan" in Treviso for his Concertino for Horn and Wind Band and in 1995, won 1st prize in the International Clarinet Association Contest for his Quartet for Clarinet.
Over the last fifteen years, more than 40 CDs with works by Marco Pütz have been released. His music is played in very many European countries as well as in Russia, Australia Canada and the USA.
