Chant Nuptial, opus 128
This melodious piece with its accompaniment of chords, then ascending and descending arpeggios, was written for violin with harp or piano, with optional cello and organ. It was dedicated to Monsieur L'Abbé Durand. It was first published by Hamelle in 1928 and again in 1929 (Source data BNF musique). For this present edition we had a full manuscript score for violin, harp and organ, dated 1926, two manuscript versions for violin and harp, one of which is also dated 1926, and three individual parts for violin, cello and organ. We were also able to use the old Hamelle edition. The organ part differed slightly from one source to another, so we were obliged to choose certain details which were not always self-evident by referring to the harmonic logic of the piece and the characteristics of the instruments. It became clear to us that this work would be most frequently performed as a duo for violin and harp (or violin and piano). But the Chant Nuptial is most suitable for church ceremonies in its version including organ and cello in addition to the essential violin and harp.
I wish to thank the Ensemble Mel Bonis for their correction's work.

Chant Nuptial, opus 128
